地元新聞で「四面宮ものがたり」という冊子ができ、それには
なにやら雲仙の秘密がかかれてあるということを知り早速取り
寄せてみました！

表紙が「雲仙神社」になっています。あらためて雲仙の
すごい秘密を知ってしまった！！

とりまとめると、こういうことですが・・・
「1300年前、文武天皇が行基菩薩に九州の守り神をまつる
神社として雲仙に建立するよう命じたという四面宮。
四面宮とは九州総守護の神々をお祀りする神仏習合の神社
です。」


これだけでは何のことか面白くないです。
自分も学びつつ自己流で解説します(笑)！！

まず「行基菩薩」のこと。
雲仙のなりたちには「行基菩薩」の存在は欠かせません。
行基菩薩は奈良時代、東大寺の建立に力を尽くした「四聖」
の一人である有名な僧。その行基菩薩が熊本県・天草から
雲仙岳の噴煙を見てに開山を思い立つ。
なんと雲仙って相当なパワースポット！！
1300年前は火山活動がかなり活発だったのでしょうね～。

そして701年（大宝元年）に雲仙を女子禁制の修行山
として開山。雲仙は霊山として比叡山・高野山と並ぶ
「天下の三山」と称されます。現在も比叡山・高野山は
国外にも有名な場所です。（比べて雲仙はその由来が
知られておらず残念ですが・・・）



そしてさらに！
文武天皇が「九州総守護の四面宮」として満明寺（寺）
と四面宮（神社）を雲仙に造営するよう行基に命じ
ます。




「四面宮」をもっとわかりやすく・・・

九州地方はひとつの体（大陸）に4つの顔（国）がある
一身四面の神様が守っている大陸だったとか。
つまり九州地方は「筑紫の国」「豊の国」「肥の国」
「熊曽の国」という4つの顔（四面）を持つ国だった、
ということです。


つまりその四面宮・・・九州地方全土の守護神の総本山が
雲仙　温泉神社なんです！
そう聞くと、我々はすごいパワースポットでお仕事させて
もらっている気分になってきました(笑)！！
これからもどうぞ世の中をお守りください！！

＊四面宮はその後島原半島を中心に諫早市や佐賀県にも建立。
明治時代の「神仏分離令」で各地の四面宮も「温泉神社」や
「諫早神社」など名前を変更し現在に至っています。因みに
満明寺は温泉神社のちょうど真向かいにありますので両方
訪れてみてはいかがでしょう。＊

悲報です。長崎の秋の大祭「長崎くんち」が、新型コロナ
ウイルスの感染拡大を受け中止決定となりました（涙）。
Today we had some sad news. The Nagasaki Kunchi Autumn Festival was canceled due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

もと長崎市民の私含め、長崎市民一同、「くんちの無かっ
たら秋はこんばい（秋はこない）！！」と思ったはず。
For the people who were born in Nagasaki, like me, it sound like if there is no Kunchi Festival the autumn is not really coming.


しかし人が集まり、集団での稽古になるので仕方ない・・・
憎っくきコロナめ・・・
Anyway, people cannot gather in groups, it won't help with the coronavirus ongoing situation...
We hate coronavirus...


「10月の祭なのに今中止決定は早すぎるのでは？」
と思うかたもおられるかもしれません。確かに本番は10月。
ですが実は6月1日の「小屋入り」から、その年のくんち準備
はスタートします。それを目前とし苦渋の決断だったと
思います。
Some people may think, "But the festival is not just in October? Is it not too early to cancel it?" And they are right, the festival is just in October. But its preparation starts months ago with the "Koya-Iri", in June 1st. I am pretty sure that it was a very difficulty decision.


＊6月1日「小屋入り」とは＊
奉納踊りをする担当踊り町の世話役・出演者が諏訪神社・
八坂神社神前でお祓いを受け無事を祈願し、10月の本番
に向けこの日から稽古が始まるのが、くんちでいう
「小屋入り」です。
* But what is the "Koya-Iri" that happens in June 1st? *
It is when Kunchi "enters the hut ''. When the people in charge to vote and the dance performers from different towns pray for safety and receive the bless at Suwa Shrine and Yasaka Shrine . This is when the Kunchi Festival really starts.


その昔、外国との貿易を許された長崎には、諸外国から
独特に培った「和（日本）・華（中国）・蘭（ヨーロッパ）」
文化があります。それをルーツとして、それぞれ踊り町の
出し物を神社の神様へ捧げる秋の祭ですが、今回のくんち
中止は広い意味で、和・華・蘭　つまり、世界のすべての
動きが止まってしまったことを反映しているかのようにも
感じています。
Long ago, Nagasaki was allowed to trade with foreign countries like China or contries from Europe. That's why mixing with the Japanese culture unique cultures were cultivated. Having these roots, each town has your own dance style and dedicates it to a different shrine. The Kunchi Festival cancellation reflects the movement stop of the whole world. China, Europe and now Japan too. That's my felling.

日ごとに暖かさが増してきました。
桜の季節のあと、麓ではすでにツツジが開花しているところ
が多いようですが、雲仙ではミヤマキリシマツツジが開花
準備中！！
小さいお花がぎゅーっと密集し、しかも、湯煙沸く雲仙地獄
という過酷な岩盤の上で咲いています。雲仙で咲く唯一の
お花といっても過言ではありません。
It's the spring beggining, every day its getting warmer. After the cherry blossom season, the azaleas are preparing to bloom up here in Unzen! !
Small flowers are densely packed and blooming on the harsh rocks of Unzen Jigoku. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the only flower that blooms in Unzen.

ツツジたちの蕾が日ごとに膨らんでいくのがわかります。
We can see the azalea buds growing every day.

見回すと水盤の周り、あちこちに紅い蕾が準備中でした。
We can see the azalea red buds growing around the gardens lake.

こちらは昨年の5月の景色。春一杯で賑やかな風景。
ふわ～っと暖かく新緑も美しい4月の後半から5月。
「どの季節が一番おすすめ？」と聞かれたら、私は
迷わず、この季節です。
Here we have a picture that was took around middle of April or May last year. It was warm and the new green leafs were so beautiful. That's why when someone ask me which one is the best season I can reply spring with no hesitation.

一日も早く、すべての人々が自由に往来できる日
を心待ちにしています。

4月7日から8日は、スーパームーンを観察できる
夜でした。月が地球に近づくタイミングで満月に
なった場合、通常より大きく輝きを増すのが
「スーパームーン」。
From April 7 to 8, it was the Super Moon night.
When the full moon approaches the Earth and 
shines more than usual.


雲仙は森の中で余計な灯りがないことから日常的に
夜空がとても綺麗に見えます。
しかも雲も無くベストコンディションの夜。
Inside the forest in Unzen there is no artificial light,
so the sky looks very beautiful.
Beside its night the sky shines like day light.

肉眼で見ると、月の表面もくっきりと見えました。
そしていつもより強い光を放つ月の眩しいこと！
沈みがちな気持ちになる今日この頃、天体の
神秘的な美しさが浄化させてくれる気がしました。
The moon's surface was clearly visible by naked eye. 
It was emiting a light stronger than usual! 
With all the coronavirus news, sometimes we fell sad.
But that kind of light had the power to purify me.

コロナ終息を月に祈る！！
